I recently upgraded my Godaddy hosting to managed WordPress. The process was pretty smooth until I went to upload an image and kept getting this error (Unable to create directory uploads/2017/12. Is its parent directory writable by the server?) and the image would not upload.

I happen to love working with Godaddy because their support is awesome. I had just gotten off the phone with these guys trying to solve an SSL issue on another project I am working on and did not feel like bothering these guys with this.

I soon realized that in the settings/media section as you can see from my image below, you need to set that string as shown, hit save and Walah!!  Problem solved. I used to think, in the past, whenever I saw this problem on a client project, that their webmaster had set restrictions for uploads. Now I know I was wrong. Well, we die learning.
